Make A Dole Whip Just Like Disney!
If you really want a more authentic dole whip recipe like the ones served at Disney you can always do the following:
Step 1: Buy the Dole® Soft Serve premade mix like Disney uses. Amazon now sells the mix by the single bag rather than having to buy in bulk 4 bags at once! Free shipping with Amazon Prime too!
Step 2: Buy a soft serve ice cream machine. This Cuisinart ICE-45 Mix It In Soft Serve 1-1/2-Quart Ice-Cream Maker is a good choice. I personally have one of these and it makes awesome self-serve! It is a fully automatic soft-serve ice-cream maker with a double-insulated freezer bowl. It produces 1-1/2 quarts of ice-cream in just 20 minutes; no chemicals, salt, or ice required. Also the handle makes ice cream swirl out like with an authentic soft-serve machine.
Step 3: Make the soft serve treat. One bag of this mixture makes about 2 gallons of Dole Whip. That’s obviously a lot to consume in any one sitting. So you’ll want to scale it down for your soft serve ice cream machine. The proportions to make 1 quart would be 2 cups of water and 1 3/4 cups of the dry mix. Fill a bowl with the cold water then add the appropriate amount of Dole® Soft Serve mix while stirring with a wire whisk until mix is completely dissolved (about 2 minutes). Pour the mixture into your soft serve machine. If you make 1 quart at a time you will have enough mix in one bag to make these 8 times.
Dole Whip Flavors
If you are not so much a fan of pineapple or just want to expand your horizons and try other different flavors, there’s several others to choose from. Available flavors from Dole include: Strawberry, Raspberry, Orange, Mango and Lemon. Just follow the same directions as above using the fruit flavor of your choice and enjoy your new dole whip recipe creation! I sense a Dole Mango Whip in my very near future.
Dole Whip FAQ
What is the Dole Whip?
The Dole Whip is a pineapple-flavored soft-serve type of frozen dessert originally appearing in Disney World and Disneyland but now also appears in ice cream and yogurt shops. Though a Dole Whip has the appearance of soft-serve ice cream, it really gets its texture from ordinary food thickeners. Precision Foods explains it as such: “Dole Soft Serve Mix is a lactose-free dry mix that is reconstituted with tap water and frozen down in a soft serve machine. Marketed under the popular Dole brand name, this unique product delivers an intense, natural pineapple fruit flavor, yet is fat free and cholesterol free. Although the Dole Food Company originally created the Dole Whip soft serve mix, they licensed the brand to Kent Precision Foods Group who now has an exclusive agreement to make the one of a kind mix that comprises the Dole Whip.
Does everyone love this frozen treat?
Apparently so! It’s so popular that the lines to get one are often longer than the lines at some attractions. On average, 1.3 million are purchased per year at Disney Parks and Resorts. One tip, if you’re at Disney World is to go into the Enchanted Tiki Room attraction and line up on the other side.
What types and flavors do they come in?
The Dole whip mix comes in six flavors: Pineapple, Orange, Mango, Raspberry, Chocolate, and Vanilla. Disney sells pineapple and vanilla flavored as well as orange and vanilla flavored Dole Whips.
